'Buzznacking'

The diaries often refer to the word ‘buzznacking’ which seems to have been a nineteenth century colloquial word of nautical origin, meaning lazing about. Charles indulges in a lot of ‘buzznacking’ throughout the diaries.

The verandah was obviously a source of great pleasure and relaxation, and the hammock illustrated in one of the images appeared to be one of Charles favourite spots.
