About the exhibition
John Oxley Library and Heritage Collections staff
The John Oxley Library is managed by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff in Heritage Collections. Librarians, technicians and administrators are responsible for collecting and making accessible Queensland’s documentary heritage. Some staff have been here for decades, others a few months – but all treasure the privilege of being up close and personal with the collection. This exhibition is an opportunity to showcase staff knowledge of the collection and its place in Queensland history. Take this occasion to learn more about the diversity of people who, every day, engage with Queensland Memory.
All staff had the opportunity to select material from the Collection and then have a conversation with Historian in Residence Professor Anna Haebich. We are delighted to make this interaction public and share the way in which history can be created.

Exhibition curator
I curated this exhibition in my role as Historian in Residence at the State Library of Queensland. I imagined an online exhibition that would be informative as well as beautiful and entertaining. Inviting staff to select favourite items from the collections and developing the exhibition around their choices proved a great recipe for success and made for enjoyable working relationships.

Research Intensive Professor at Griffith University, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia.
