The Maps collection contains a wide range of maps and map related materials covering all areas of the world with a particular emphasis on Queensland.
Atlases, gazetteers, street directories and individually catalogued sheet maps can be found in our catalogue. If you have an e-services card, ordering material in advance is recommended to avoid delays as retrieval will be on an hourly basis.
Map series
Many sheet maps form part of a series, e.g. the 1:100 000 topographic map series of Australia. The series title will be listed in our catalogue, however, the individual sheets within the series are not listed. To locate individual sheets for a particular series, use index maps to determine the relevant sheet number you require. The index maps will also show our holdings. Visitors to the library can ask for assistance with index maps at the Level 4 Information Desk in the South Bank building.
Real estate maps
A number of real estate maps have been digitised and form a special feature on our website.
Manuscript maps
Some maps are also housed in our Original Materials collection. These can be located by searching Manuscripts Queensland. Ordering material in advance is recommended.
