Queenslanders have access to a number of authoritative, subscription-only databases that are not available through Google or other free search engines.

Onsite access at your public library or State Library
Onsite access is easy - visit your local Queensland public library or the State Library of Queensland and connect using one of the onsite computers. You may also be able to access these databases using the library's wireless service.

Offsite access
To access these databases away from the library - from any computer connected to the internet (eg home or office) - you must be a Queensland resident and:

own a State Library e-services card (register for an e-services card allowing 5 days to receive your card);
OR

be a member of a Queensland public library with a QPL account (register for a QPL account - immediate access after email verification)

ABIX Formerly known as Smartbix. ABIX indexes an extensive range of Australasian business trade journals and newspapers. Citations and abstracts of articles. ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) Access to census data, demography statistics, migration, population, health, labour force and a select number of other ABS statistical publications. AIMMAT: AIM management and training database Compiled by the Library of the Australian Institute of Management NSW Training Centre Limited. The Annual report collection Connect 4 provides this selection of annual reports from top 500 companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange from 1992 to the present. Also provides company prospectuses from 1994 and mergers and acquisitions from 1997. State Library subscribes to the annual reports, company prospectuses and mergers and acqusitions services only. APECLIT: APEC Literature A database of citations produced by the APEC Study Centre pertaining to Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation and related topics. Results include citations to books, conference papers, journal articles and reports. Aspect annual reports online Aspect Annual Reports On-line offers access to the annual reports of Australian listed and de-listed companies dating back to 1995. It also provides access to the full documentation of ASX-lodged announcements from October 1998 to today, including prospectuses. These announcements are updated continually throughout the day. Business Source Premier One of the largest full text business database provides full text for more than 2,950 scholarly business journals, including full text for nearly 900 peer-reviewed business publications. Dat Analysis Premier research tool for ASX company data. Comprehensive data on all companies listed on ASX as well as delisted companies. JSTOR Multidisciplinary archive of high resolution scanned scholarly journals. It is not a current issues database. Because of JSTOR's archival mission, there is a gap, from 1 to 5 years, between the most recently published journal issue and the back issues available. Subject areas covered include economics, law, history, Asian studies, Middle Eastern studies, language, literature, music, film studies, performing arts, religion and visual arts. PERIND: Periodicals Index Produced by the National University of Singapore Library. Indexes a range of journals on Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and ASEAN. Although most of the journal articles date from 1980 onwards, the articles relating to medicine date from 1975, and law dates from 1932. From mid 1997, there are references to book chapters and conference papers.
