Find manuscripts
Search by keywords
Type your keywords into the search box and select "Go". The search will open a new browser window displaying your results in One Search.
A keyword search will find your keywords in any field of the record, but you may need to read through the finding aid to find where your search term appears. To access the finding aid, click on "View the Finding Aid" in the full record in One Search. In large finding aids, you may prefer to use the "Find [on this page]" function of your web browser, or "Ctrl+F".
Advanced searching
One Search offers a number of different ways to help you discover relevant information. You can refine your search by clicking on one of the options offered on the right hand side of the page under "Refine my results". This gives you the option to refine by author/creator, subject, date, resource type and form/genre. Further below this list are "Suggested new searches", which may offer you a new direction for your searching. Further hints and tips for searching are available at the bottom of the results screen, under "Haven"t found what you"re looking for?".
Navigating the finding aid
To access the finding aid for the collection, click on "View the Finding Aid" in the full record in One Search. The Finding Aid gives a full description of the collection as a whole, and often includes series and item descriptions, as well as links to digitised items as appropriate. To navigate your way through the Finding Aid, you can scroll through to view the whole description, use "Ctrl+F" to search for specific words/phrases/names/dates, or use the left hand side navigation to jump to relevant series and digital objects.
