The Tim Fairfax Newspaper Reading Room provides convenient access to the State Library of Queensland's wide range of newspapers, newspaper indexes and news via electronic media. Today's newspapers from around Australia and overseas are available in paper and electronic format, and clients can search and access a deep archive of newspaper articles back to 1785.
The Tim Fairfax Newspaper Reading Room is located on Level 3 of the State Library building, and offers views of the city, river and South Bank Parklands. Surrounding the reading room is a poetic wooden sculpture suggesting the rolling presses of traditional newspaper production.
In the Tim Fairfax Newspaper Reading Room you can:
- Read newspapers from Queensland, Australia and overseas
- Search databases for newspaper articles and access them online or on microfilm in the adjacent Micrographics Room
- Watch TV news.
