Highlights of the collection include printed books, many containing annotations and additional material such as letters, photographs and press clippings; Fanfrolico Press publications; manuscript letters between members of the Lindsay family and their associates, including correspondence relating to the Bulletin newspaper.
Donated by Mr Patrick Corrigan AM throughout the 1990s, the collection includes more than 3,000 Lindsay family letters, correspondence and memorabilia held in 27 volumes dating from 1880. Of the ten children born to Jane and Robert Lindsay in Creswick Victoria during the late 19th century, five of their children contributed significantly to Australia's cultural heritage.
Much of the collection was gathered together by Harry Chaplin, friend and bibliographer of the Lindsay family.
In one of her letters addressed to Chaplin in April 1948, eldest sister Mary Lindsay refers to Harry Chaplin's "collection of Lindsayana, offering to write to those she knows" in order to assist him with his collecting. "Don't thank me! Collectors like yourself with a genuine appreciation for the creative artist command my respect and sympathy."
