Chief Executive Officer and State Librarian, Janette Wright
Janette Wright is an experienced CEO and library manager.
Ms Wright commenced in the role of CEO and State Librarian, State Library of Queensland, on 27 February 2012.
Ms Wright’s experience in public libraries, including time as the Director of Public Library and Network Services at the State Library of New South Wales, has strengthened her life-long commitment to increasing access to library services. The State Library of Queensland aims to reach all Queenslanders regardless of whether they are in remote areas of the state; whether they experience barriers of language, culture, or literacy; or whether they lack access to broadband telecommunications or the knowledge to find and use online services. Queensland’s statewide network of public library services and Indigenous Knowledge Centres - provided in partnership with local government - are key to the State Library reaching all Queenslanders.
In her more recent roles as CEO of CAVAL Ltd, a library services company, and RMIT Publishing, Ms Wright has developed strong knowledge of the methods and techniques to digitise legacy collections and will apply this to improve long-term preservation of, and online access to, Queensland’s documentary heritage.
Promoting the services and collections of the State Library of Queensland is an important role for the CEO and State Librarian, who will continue to build the State Library’s partnerships with government, industry and community to reach out to an ever-wider audience in Queensland.
State Library of Queensland provides special library services for members who have an SLQ membership card (formerly known as an e-services card).
