Think Outside - Environment
Think Outside invites local, national and international design thinkers to contemplate a ‘wicked problem’ outside their area of expertise, offering new and unexpected solutions for discussion using design thinking. Think Outside: Environment, the second event in the series asks design thinkers 'how might we design a model of sustainable eco-tourism?'
Eco-tourism refers to nature-based tourism. Issues around the topic of eco-tourism include confusion around certification and standards, the environmental impact of visitors, natural resource management and social responsibility.
The design thinkers making up the panel for this event are John Thackara (UK) from Doors of Perception, Tamsin O’Neill, editor of Green Magazine, and Sidonie Carpenter, from Green Canopy Design Pty. Ltd.
Each speaker has 10 minutes to present their ideas, setting the platform for a considered debate and discussion around the practical implications of these new ideas. The audience is invited to respond to the challenge prior to the event and to share their thoughts as part of the final debate and discussion.
